The 2013 edition of the 'Great Minnesota Get Together' gets underway this Thursday in St. Paul. This year's fair will see the debut of 42 new foods, Sammy Hagar on the grandstand stage, a load of new attractions, and a hot & humid forecast.

The fair runs August 22nd through Labor Day (September 2nd), with a $12 admission for adults, $10 for kids. with the under 5 crowd getting in for free. See the official State Fair website for special discounts & promotions.

Dozens of new attractions and exhibits make their State Fair debut in 2013, including a celebration of Minnesota's performing arts featuring pop-up performances, a hands-on education center for horse enthusiasts, five new carnival rides, and a flower show spectacular.

Nearly 50 new foods have been added to the fair's list of more than 450 options. Several of the new choices including Lobster Macaroni & Cheese and Northwoods BBQ Taco can be found in the Food Building.

In addition to Sammy Hagar on August 4th,  the Grand Stand highlights include:

  • Dana Carvey, Dennis Miller, Kevin Nealon on August 22nd.
  • Under The Sun featuring Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray & Gin Blossoms on August 23rd.
  • Cheryl Crow with Dwight Yoakam on August 25th.
  • Depeche Mode on August 27th.
  • Train with Michael Franti & Spearhead on August 29th.
  • Tim McGraw on August 2nd.
