ST. CLOUD - This year is the 70th consecutive 4th of July Fireworks celebration in St. Cloud. Board President Tom Richardson says there's a full day of festivities again this year at the two parks along the Mississippi River.

He says Hester Park will open at sunrise.

That's the family fun park. There's no alcohol allowed in that park. But, there's great food vendors.  And, the educational part, we've got folks who are going to be representing some of our founding fathers.

The St. Cloud Municipal Band starts playing at 8:30 p.m. at Hester Park.

Across the river at Wilson Park the Whiskey Plates Band and the Gregory James Band will play from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

There will activities for the kids in both parks.

Richardson says you will be impressed again this year.

We are probably going to be the second largest pyrotechnic display in the state of Minnesota on the 4th of July.

He says we're second only to Duluth. About 42,000 people watch the 4th of July fireworks show in St. Cloud every year.

The fireworks are scheduled to be launched from a barge on the river at 10:00 p.m.
