Bert Sommer spent most his career as a solo artist, however; he did spend some time in the band The Left Banke ("Don't Walk Away Renee', "Pretty Ballerina"), a band out of New York.

His best known contribution to the music industry was his single, "We're All Playing In The Same Band."

Between 1969 - 1977 he released four albums, Bert was in the original Broadway production of 'Hair'.

Bert Sommer passed away in 1990 due to a respiratory disease, he was 41.
