Aside from his death, 1973 was a pretty rough year for John Lennon as he was separated from Yoko Ono, the U.S. Government was trying to deport him and the stress of putting separation between his work on 'Mind Games' and his previous release ' Some Time in New York City.'

John's live-in companion at the time May Pang, said, "He realized he couldn't change a lot of things."

John's album 'Some Time in New York City' was so politically driven he received so many negative reviews it was hard for him to handle it, he basically went into hiding. A year later the album 'Mind Games' was born.
