When John Fogerty picked the town of Lodi, California for the song, he had never been there. The interpretation of the song deals with a musician who just doesn't make enough money to ever leave the town.

John Fogerty is from Berkley,California. Lodi is approximately 70 miles away.

John liked the way Lodi sounded so he decided to use it.

"Somewhere I lost connections,
Ran out of songs to play,
I came into town, a one night stand,
Looks like my plans fell through,
Oh, Lord, stuck in Lodi again."

From the album 'Green River' 1969.
