Don Brewer (drums) for Grand Funk Railroad get the credit for penning "We're an American Band."

Don also gets credit for the rapid fire opening guitar riff.

It amazes me how many songs you could write about the road and touring, etc...

This song is in high regard to the all night poker games, the booze and ladies are all mentioned. Oh yeah can't forget, "tearing that hotel down" part.

The song is the epitome of everything, 'sex, drugs, rock-n-roll' of all the rockers back in the day.

"On the road for forty days,
Last night in Little Rock put me in a haze.
...We're coming to your town, we'll help you party down,
We're an American Band."
