'Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy' is just another hit album from Elton John's incredible commercial run of the 1970s.

Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, was an autobiographical project that drew on memories of the early partnership of John and lyricist Bernie Taupin.

Some of the essential Tracks:

  • "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" (video below) Elton John wrote the music to the song 1975 while he was on a cruise. Bernie Taupin, penned the lyrics to this song.

This song refers to Elton's life when he was about to marry a woman named Linda Woodrow.
Elton explained in the 1991 'Two Rooms' tribute project,: "I was going to get married once when I was younger, and I went out and got drunk with Long John Baldry and Bernie and John said I shouldn't get married. I knew he was right but I didn't know how to get out of it so, I just got drunk and went home and said I'm not getting married."
FYI "Sugar Bear" in the lyrics refers to Long John Baldry.
