Fresh of rocking The Loon's Halfway Jam last summer and as she got set to tear up an Illinois roadhouse last week, Lita Ford took time to speak to The Naperville Times.

Part of the discussion focused on her old band, and her old band mates.

“They’re relating me to the Runaways more so now, but I really wasn't in the movie that much. It was more a movie on Joan and Cherie (Currie),” she said.

"The Runaways" - the movie - was released last year to solid reviews. If featured Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning as Cherie Curie and Scout Taylor Compton as Lita.

*Note: Lita refused to give her express consent to the film's producers to use her name and likeness so if you see the film, it is noticeable how little her character figures into the story.

The Runaways, the all teenage girl rock band, was formed in 1975 with a 16 year old Lita featured on guitar. They would eventually disband only a few years later.

Joan and Lita would go on to solo success, Cherie would largely disappear from view.

Joan and Lita have had a strained relationship for many years, but when the subject of a Runaways reunion was broached, Ms. Ford said she's open to the idea.

“I would love it. I can’t answer that question, but I would love it,” she said. “We were ahead of our time. Now, people are realizing we were ahead of our time. We inspired so many different artists, and not just girls.”

Lita is currently on tour and working on a new album but I'll keep you posted on Runaways reunion progress as it would surely be one of my dream rock band homecomings.

I've always dug Lita and I am a lifelong Joan fanatic: see her live, see her topless, and you'll get it.
