Original AC/DC singer Dave Evans says he's sorting out publishing possibilities for a book offering his perspective on the band's early years.

"I'm making a couple of inquiries at the moment regarding that. That's the next thing on my agenda," Evans said during an appearance on Australian Rock Show. Saying he doesn't understand why more attention hasn't been paid to the period between 1973-74, when he was in the lineup, Evans continued, "Without that first 12 months of the birth of the band, the rest of the history is not complete; it can't be. And the fans wanna know exactly what happened in that first 12 months."

Evans went on to insist that writing the book isn't just a way of righting what he sees as a personal wrong, but also finally giving his other neglected former bandmates their due, including drummer Colin Burgess and bassist Larry Van Kriedt. "Their story's gotta be told too. It's not just all about Dave Evans," he added. "Of course, I'm the one who can write it, but these people were all part of AC/DC, and they shouldn't be discounted. Without every member, it couldn't be the band that it is today."

This has long been a point of contention for Evans, who admitted in a 2012 interview that he was bothered by the release of the Family Jewels DVD box, which collected promotional footage from throughout the band's history — starting in 1975. "It annoys me and it annoys the fans too," he claimed. "They try to pretend that the first history of the band never existed. In most of the interviews, it’s like Bon was there from the very beginning. But the cat’s out of the bag. The early history is important."

One portion of that early history fans can presumably expect to read about in Evans' memoir is his rebuttal to the oft-repeated story that he was fired from AC/DC for being too "glam" for the band. "The glam thing that's being talked about is ridiculous. All you have to do is look at the photographs and you'll see that all the other boys, including Malcolm Young and Angus, all have got the same gear on," he told Australian Rock Show. "The glam thing is just bulls---. It was personalities. And especially with the manager I didn't get on. None of us liked what was happening. We were working our asses off and not getting paid."

Evans' most recent solo release, the EP Nothing to Prove, came out last year.
