Annual Ice Fishing Extravaganza Postponed

BRAINERD -- The annual Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza has been postponed due to safety concerns.

The charitable ice fishing contest was scheduled for Saturday, January 23rd on Gull Lake but inconsistent ice thickness caused by the relatively warm winter has forced it to be postponed until Saturday, February 6th. The postponement date is printed on all contest tickets.

Chairperson Angie Nelson released a statement to the media saying "with the latest cold snap, we were optimistic the ice would be ready for us, but Mother Nature had another plan."

The Deuces Wild Dueling Pianos Comedy Show at Grandview Lodge will continue its scheduled performance on Friday, January 22nd.
