One day after Tom Petty's stolen guitars were recovered, an arrest has been made in the case.

We first reported that five guitars were stolen last week from Tom Petty, but were quickly recovered, however, the person who stole them was hired to prevent it from happening.

Tom Petty's security guard, Darryl Washington has been arrested in connection with the thefts. He was apparently working security at a studio in Culver City, California where Tom and the gang were doing some recording and rehearsing and Darryl decided he needed some quick cash, so he took the guitars and was going to try and sell them. Well, police were tipped off when one of the guitars was sold to a pawn shop for $250.

Tom took to his Facebook page where he offers his thanks and gratitude to the Culver City Police Department saying it was "a job well done". He also thanked his fans for their "outpouring of good wishes and concern".

The five guitars were discovered missing a week ago, just as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were set to head out on tour. Tom had offered a $75 thousand dollar reward for the return of the instruments. No word on if the Culver City PD will collect.
