A’s, Lester Shutdown Twins 3-0

The Twins lost 3-0 at Oakland to the Athletics Thursday night.  Jon Lester threw the complete game 3-hit shutout to earn the win and improve to 12-7.  Johan Pino threw 5 2/3 innings with 3 earned runs allowed to take the loss for the Twins and drop to 1-4.  Chris Colabello, Oswaldo Arcia and Kurt Suzuki each had 1 hit for the Twins.

Minnesota is 51-62 and is 11 1/2 games back of Detroit for first place in the American League Central.  The Twins play the 2nd game of the 4-game series at Oakland tonight at 9:05, pregame on WJON at 8:35.  Righthander Kyle Gibson gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander Jon Lester toes the rubber for the A’s.
