The Twins have recalled outfielder Aaron Hicks from Triple-A Rochester where he was hitting .336 with 2 homeruns, 14 RBIs and 21 runs scored in 27 games. Hicks is a career .201 hitters in parts of 2 seasons with the Twins.
Vikings Cut 5 Players; Minicamp This Weekend
The Vikings cut 5 players today with a mini-camp happening this weekend. The 5 are safety Ahmad Dixon running back Henry Josey, tight end Ryan Otten, tackle Antonio Richardson and guard Austin Wentworth.
Vikings Pick Up Options on Both Smith and Kalil
The Vikings exercised the 5th year option on the rookie contracts of safety Harrison Smith and left tackle Matt Kalil. Fox sports was first to report the deals. Smith was the 29th pick in the 2012 NFL draft. He's due to make $5.278 Million in 2016.
Mariners, Felix Beat Twins 2-0
The Twins lost 2-0 in Seattle Friday night to fall to 6-10 on the season. Felix Hernandez threw the complete game 5-hit shutout with 9 strikeouts with no walks to get the win.
Tigers Pound Twins, Again 7-1
The Twins lost 7-1 in Detroit to the Tigers Thursday afternoon. The game was delayed more than 3 hours due to rain and inclement weather. Kyle Gibson threw just 3 2/3 innings with 8 hits, 5 walks and 6 earned runs allowed.
Twins’ Nolasco Has Elbow Injury
Twins starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco flew back to Minneapolis after feeling pain in his right pitching elbow during the game against Detroit Wednesday. He experienced pain when throwing to Alex Avila and stays in the game to face 2 additional hitters before leaving the game.
Penn State Spoils Gopher Senior Day
The Gophers lost 79-76 at home against Penn State Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at Williams Arena. D.J. Newbill made a contested 25-foot jumper from the top of the key as time expired to win the game.
Twins Top Orioles 2-1 in Fort Myers
The Twins won 2-1 in Fort Myers, Florida against Baltimore Sunday afternoon. Joe Mauer and Eduardo Escobar each had an RBI double for the Twins. Ervin Santana threw 2 shutout innings with 2 hits allowed and 3 strikeouts to get the win.
Timberwolves Trade Mo Williams For Gary Neal
The Timberwolves traded point guard Mo Williams and shooting guard Troy Daniels to Charlotte for shooting guard Gary Neal and a 2019 2nd round pick. Williams was averaging 12.2 points and 6.4 assists a game this season.
Timberwolves beaten Badly by Mavericks
The Timberwolves lost 98-75 at home to Dallas Wednesday night. The Mavericks were led by Chandler Parsons with 22 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 16 points and 9 rebounds.
Chicago Tops Wild 4-2
The Minnesota Wild lost 4-2 at home against Chicago Thursday night. Chicago scored 2 first period goals before Jason Zucker scored in the 2nd period. Bryan Bickel scored twice in the 3rd period for Chicago including an empty net goal.
Joe Mauer is Coming to St. Cloud as Part of the Twins Caravan
Joe Mauer has been added to the St. Cloud leg of the Twins Winter Caravan Tuesday January 20. Mauer will be appearing in St. Cloud as part of the Caravan for the first time in his career.
