Viking quarterback Christian Ponder was limited in practice Wednesday due to a sore elbow. He sustained the injury when he hit the helmet of a Packer player on his follow through. He stayed in the game and is expected to play Saturday at Green Bay.

St. Cloud Cathedral's Austin Poganski has verbally committed to attend the University of North Dakota and play college hockey there. Poganski scored 4 goals and added 2 assists against Mora-Hinckley-Finlayson Tuesday. He recently passed the 100 point threshold in his high school career.
The Twins are reportedly interested in free agent starting pitcher Freddy Garcia. The 36-year old Garcia pitched 30 games for the Yankees in 2012 including 17 starts. He was 7-6 with a 5.20 ERA for New York.
Viking kicker Blair Walsh was named the NFC special teams player of the week this week. He was 5-5 on field goals including 3 field goals of 50 yards or more. He had 18 points in the Viking 36-22 win at St. Louis Sunday. Walsh is 8-8 on field goals of 50 yards or more this season.
