AVON -- There's usually no such thing as a free meal, but St. Benedict's Church in Avon provides one weekly for the town.

Every Wednesday night the Church hosts a free community meal. St. Benedict's Ministry and Technology Coordinator Nick Neuman says the meals are meant to bring the community closer together.

"The purpose is meant to bring people together outside of our services on the weekend."

The Church has been serving the meal for over four years, and the meal is open to everyone.

"We welcome anyone from anywhere. Whatever age you are, you're welcome to come join us."

Neuman says the Parish sees around 500 people for their services each Sunday. The Church serves around 150-200 people every Wednesday at the community meal.

The meal is is served by volunteers, from 5:00 p.m. 6:30 p.m. in the Church basement.
