The Occupy Wall Street crowd may have derided the so-called “one percent,” but someone is so proud to be in those upper ranks that he showed his disdain for the rest of us by tipping a restaurant server exactly — yes — one percent on a tab, and including a nasty note to boot.

The story goes that a wealthy banker in Newport Beach, CA left a $1.33 tip after racking up $133 in lunch charges. And then, as if that weren’t insulting enough, he circled the word “tip” on the receipt and wrote a special love note to the waitress: “get a real job.”

The bozo’s dining companion (and employee) took a photo of the whole thing and uploaded it to a now-offline blog called Future Ex-Banker, along with the following explanation:

Mention the 99% in my boss’ presence and feel his wrath. So proudly does he wear his 1% badge of honor that he tips exactly 1% every time he feels the server doesn’t sufficiently bow down to his holiness … [He] has blatant disregard and outright contempt for everyone and everything he deems beneath him … On top of that, he’s a complete and utter tool.

A more accurate character assessment has never been made.

Before the post was removed, one person called the tip a “tale of greed and contempt,” with another referring to it as “arrogance personified.”

Mike Wilcox, vice president of operations for the restaurant, True Food Kitchen, told the Huffington Post that they’re verifying whether the receipt in question is real, and if it is, he’d like to talk to the aforementioned “tool” himself.

That is, if he can get to him before the internet mob of villagers with torches and pitchforks does.
