Baxter’s Attic, Traffic “Dear Mr Fantasy” (live)
In The Attic this morning a band that wasn't around all that long but left a major impression on the music world. Traffic formed in 1967 in the UK and consisted of members Steve Winwood who had previously been part of The Spencer Davis Group while in his mid teens. Dave Mason, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood rounded out the lineup. After some friction between Winwood and Mason, Mason left the band only to rejoin in 1968. Dave Mason wrote the Traffic song "Feeling Alright" which became a bigger hit for Joe Cocker. And who could forget "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys". In my early days of radio this was my go to song when I needed to use the restroom. This was before computers and all, so when you needed a long song it was either "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" or Frampton's "Do You Feel Like We Do?". After Traffic, Dave Mason had a solo career and Steve Winwood joined up with Eric Clapton to form Blind Faith.
