When you're part of a six-person household, you rarely find time to NOT be busy.

Once you're out on your own, that drastically changes.

After a breakup, it's a very good thing to keep yourself busy. Becoming an active member of your community is a great way to do something positive in the wake of something not-so-positive.

There are plenty of ways to do it, too. Some small, some not.

You can:

1. Get To Know Your (Probably New) Neighbors
Especially since (for guys, at least) you're likely to be in a new neighborhood, getting to know your neighbors will help you feel like less of a stranger in a new place. Be a part of the neighborhood watch, too!

2. Support The Local Businesses
With some extra time, you can plan your budget to allow for supporting local businesses. Every little bit helps!

3. Not Be a Jerk
This is easy. At least it should be.

4. Volunteer
Find a cause you're passionate about. Join a club. Volunteer at school. Get involved in a local project. Help your neighbor. These are also great ways to meet new people!

5. Become a Coach or Umpire
On top of helping out a school (which are often looking for coaches for younger athletes) it could also be a little extra cash (umpires are always in high demand).
