Best 38 Special Songs Ever Made – Chris’ Top 5 [VIDEOS]
Now that the official lineup has been released for HalfWay Jam 2012, I can officially tell you how amped I am that one of my favorite bands of all time will be headlining Friday night…38 Special! These guys have been rocking out since 1976 with over 15 studio albums to their credit. And a good percentage of the 20 million albums/discs they've sold have ended up in my collection. These are my top 5 songs from a band I can honestly say I love. Is it July yet?
Just a little sample of what we'll be seeing on the HalfWay Jam stage this summer. The album “Rockin' Into The Night” came out in 1980 and this title track was 38 Special's first big hit.
The 80's were good to 38 Special and the “Strength In Numbers” album was a hot seller. It was their second highest Billboard 200 ranking, reaching #17. “Like No Other Night” went to #4 as a single in 1986.
My top 3 songs could all easily be my #1. “Somebody Like You” was another smash off the “Stength In Numbers” album and made it to #6 on the Mainstream Rock charts in 1986. Are you ready to surrender? Oh yeah!!
This gem came from the 1987 movie “Revenge Of The Nerds 2…Nerds In Paradise” and was featured on 38 Special's “Flashback” disc. It topped out at #4 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
My favorite 38 Special song is only one of two number 1 hits for the band… 1983's “If I'd Been The One” from the “Tour de Force” album. To me, just an intoxicating combination of vocals and building rhythm to a great hook. I can listen to this song over and over while “gently” massaging the speed limit. Yeah…right. Peddle to the metal all the way to HalfWay Jam! Can't wait for ths show. Click below to find out who else is playing and how to get tickets. What if I didn't wanna say goodbye? But I gotta fade away. Hope you enjoyed the list.
