A rumour began - and quickly ended - last week that had one Jon Bon Jovi going to a better place.

And now the guy who started it all is speaking out.

Jeffrey Goho, a musician in a Philadelphia metal act called Minutia, told the Asbury Press that he tweeted the false news because he was sick of Bon Jovi focusing on things outside of music (I know that keeps me up at night).

"All I heard was 'Bon Jovi this,' 'Bon Jovi's starting a restaurant.' What was the latest one? The Advil commercial? It was like, 'Jeez, (Bon Jovi) was a household name due to the music, not the business.'

Goho added, "I'm not proud of it. I'm getting a lot of backlash from it, but as stupid as it sounds, that's how it started."

He also says he received a flood of negative messages once the hoax was revealed.

"After reading everyone's responses I realized that his endeavors, his business endeavors, have actually made the tri-state area prosper . . . I am truly sorry for any and all damage that I may have caused Jon and his family. Furthermore, I can only hope that he continues to bring prosperity to the Philadelphia region and surrounding areas."

Good news? Bon Jovi is still with us. Bad news? There are people online with waaaaayyyyy too much free time.
