Bruce Springsteen‘s brand new album ‘Wrecking Ball‘ has jumped right to the No. 1 spot on the Amazon and iTunes sales charts on its first day of release.

That means, temporarily at least, that Springsteen has unseated the mighty Adele from the top ranking she’s held for several months. That’s something fellow rock stars Van Halen, even with lead singer David Lee Roth returning for the first time in 28 years, was unable to do with their recent album ‘A Different Kind of Truth.’

Actually, thanks to a special expanded edition of the new reocrd being made available in addition to the standard version, Springsteen owns two high spots on both countdowns. The special edition of ‘Wrecking Ball’ currently stands at No. 1 on Amazon, with the no-frills version hanging tough at No. 13.

Meanwhile, over on iTunes, the deluxe edition, which you can purchase right here, reigns at No. 1, with the standard album at No. 7. The excitement and curiosity over Springsteen’s first album since 2009′s ‘Working on a Dream’ has been fueled by a series of mostly positive reviews — you can read our take on the record here.

The rock legend’s upcoming tour with his longtime backing E Street Band, their first trek without recently deceased saxophonist Clarence Clemons, hits the states March 18 in Atlanta, Ga.
