ST. CLOUD -- Getting your kids to and from school safely is a thankless job, and tomorrow (Wednesday) the state says thank you to bus drivers.

Governor Mark Dayton will declare the day as School Bus Driver Appreciate Day.

Bethany Schubert is the Vice President of Trobec's Bus Service. She says several bus operators teamed up to encourage the public to celebrate this overlooked profession.

"Different owners/operators across the state were meeting and saying what can we do, how can we make this a positive thing and show the public what a rewarding career this can be," says Schubert.

Area school buses drive more than 10,000 students to and from school each day. Schubert says this is a huge deal for their industry.

"These drivers drive on all road conditions, they're up before the sun, working on hot summer days and this is a great way to reward them," says Schubert.

All St. Cloud bus companies are hosting a waffle breakfast for all area school bus drivers. Schubert hopes this opens the doors for more drivers in the future.
