The North Star Sled Dog Club has been organizing races in Minnesota since the 60's, and one of the newest events they've created is Winter Warrior Sled Dog Race. The race is part of North Star's competition circuit and will be held this Saturday and Sunday (Feb 15-16) at the Camp Ripley Training Center.

Sally Bair of the North Star Sled Dog Club says the trails along the Mississippi at Camp Ripley are in the process of being groomed and;

"...the mushers are gearing up for a fantastic weekend of competition and the dogs are howling to go!"

Bob Bzdok of Rice will be defending his winning title in the 10-dog sprint event. Bzdok says;

"Last year I competed in one of the best races I have ever been in and working with the Camp Ripley personnel was a real treat."

Officials at Camp Ripley encourage you to attend the event. If you plan on going, you'll need to present a valid driver's license at the front gate to gain access to Camp Ripley.
