The Vikings have welcomed tight end John Carlson back to practice Sunday after missing 3 preseason games and numerous practices with a knee sprain. Carlson is a Litchfield native that was considered the highest profile free agent signing the Vikings had in the offseason.

The Vikings routed the Buffalo Bills 36-14 Friday night at Mall of America Field. Christian Ponder was 10-13 passing for 136 yards and 1 touchdown with no interceptions. His one touchdown pass was to Jerome Felton from 1-yard out.

Viking running back Adrian Peterson returned to practice for the Vikings and for the first time this season in full pads. Peterson took only a few hand-offs but the defense was instructed not to hit him.

Viking head coach Leslie Frazier said Wednesday that running back Adrian Peterson is still on track to play when the regular season begins on September 9 at home against Jacksonville. Frazier says he’d like to see Peterson see action in practice and carries in a preseason game before he’s cleared to play in the regular season.

The Vikings have lost receiver Greg Childs for the season after he suffered a torn patella tendon in both knees Saturday night in a scrimmage at Minnesota State-Mankato. His season is over and his career is in jeopardy.
