ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud is raising awareness about inflammatory bowel disease. Also known as Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, inflammatory bowel disease affects 1 in 200 Americans.

The CentraCare Digestive Center has partnered with the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation to host their Take Steps walk Sunday. Physician Assistant Erin Scatanski says the foundation does a great job advocating for patients as well.

"This foundation and walk is to raise awareness for inflammatory bowel disease which is Crohn’s Disease...The foundation does a very good job of advocating for patients, bringing about awareness and supporting research."

Events like the Take Steps Walk have helped raise millions of dollars for the foundation.

"They have had 804,201 participants just last year and we are thankful that it found it's way to St. Cloud. It has also given $30,000,000 to invest in research in 2016."

Scatanski will also talk about new medications before the walk at 1:00 p.m. The walk is from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Lake George and is open to everyone.
