We were crushing on Claire Danes back in the ‘90s, when ‘My So-Called Life’ premiered and taught us that TV could tell compelling and realistic stories about teens (and that not every high school on TV had to look like Bayside High). And guess what? We’re still crushing on Danes after all these years.

The talented actress nabbed an Emmy nomination today for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Showtime’s ‘Homeland.’ If you haven’t seen ‘Homeland,’ you’re missing out on a brilliant and gutsy performance from Danes, who plays a relentless and unstable CIA officer, Carrie Mathison, who’s not afraid to get blood on her hands.

Danes, who always radiates sophistication and sexiness, has had a number of significant roles in between ‘My So-Called Life’ and ‘Homeland.’ She starred in the 2007 fantasy flick ‘Stardust,’ stood in for a missing Sarah Connor as the female lead in ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,’ and starred in Baz Luhrmann’s kinetic 1997 Shakespeare adaptation, ‘Romeo + Juliet.’

Whether she wins the Emmy or not, there’s no doubt that Danes is one of the finest and ballsiest actresses gracing the small screen these days.
