Classic Rock 101 – Who Put The “Classic” In Classic Rock? [VIDEO]
I suppose if you can answer that with the utmost response then you might have a response as to “who put the bomp in the bomp dah bomp dah bomp.” I was only five when that song came out but as I got older, that question did cross my mind.
Unfortunately there is very little agreement on the true definition of what makes classic rock classic. I’ve looked in numerous dictionaries and the definition for rock n’ roll vary.
If I had to guess I would say it really comes down to this: the difference between classic rock and oldies. Back in the day as I was growing up it and not really knowing that AOR (Album Oriented Rock) would give birth to what we know as classic rock. Classic rock defines entire albums, oldies describe pop singles that made it big commercially.
