College Football Trifecta: Huskies, Johnnies, Gophers Win
I sure hope the Vikings don’t screw up a perfect football weekend. Wait, they don’t play until Monday night. I am guaranteed to go to work Monday with a football smile on my face. SCSU beat the U of Mary. St. John’s remains unbeaten vs. Carlton. And the Gophers topped Northwestern for the first time in four years.
The 25th ranked St. Cloud State Huskies improved to 6-1 overall, and 2-1 in the conference after today’s 20-13 win in Bismarck over the University of Mary. Senior runningback Michael Walker rushed for two touchdowns and senior Dan Brown made a 41-yard touchdown reception. SCSU will host Northern State next Saturday at Husky Stadium.
#23 Saint John’s overcame four turnovers and scored the game’s final 13 points in a 23-13 win at Carleton on Saturday down in Northfield. With the win, SJU improves to 31-0 all-time against Carleton. The Johnnies now enter their bye week before traveling to face Gustavus on Saturday, November 2nd.
The Minnesota Gophers snapped a two-game losing streak, and collected their first Big Ten win of the season, topping Northwestern on the road 20-17. James Manuel broke a 7-7 tie with a 24-yard third quarter interception return and Chris Hawthorne turned another Wildcat turnover into a 34-yard field goal in the fourth.
