The Twins were shut out by the Los Angeles Angels 1-0 Wednesday afternoon at Angels Stadium. Despite the loss, Minnesota won the three game road series, taking the first two games on Monday and Tuesday.

Mike Pelfrey Continued his recent string of good starts but was the tough luck loser Wednesday. The veteran allowed just six baserunners and a single run in six innings. An Albert Pujols RBI single in the first inning was the only run allowed by Pelfrey.

Jared Weaver was dominant in eight innings of work for Los Angeles, allowing just two hits and one walk over eight innings while striking out nine Twins batters. He no-hit Minnesota his last time out against the Twins.

The Twins threatened in the top of the ninth inning, beginning when Clete Thomas walked and Doug Bernier was hit by a pitch. With two on and no one out, Justin Morneau hit a popup on the first base side that pitcher Ernesto Frieri appeared to have measured. However, the pitcher then purposely let the ball drop as the infield fly rule was not called.

The pitcher threw the ball to first base to get Morneau, followed by Bernier getting caught in a rundown for the second out. Chris Hermann struck out to end the game.

The Twins will begin a series with the Mariners Thursday night at 9:10 PM.
