The release of a new Arcade Fire single is always an event, but the band's latest track may include a little added star power.

The single, which is technically scheduled for release Sept. 9, leaked online a couple of days early -- and careful listeners were quickly able to discern what sounds an awful lot like the voice of David Bowie on the eight-minute track, which offers fans their first real glimpse of the band's upcoming fourth album.

Although official details are still scant at this point, a Bowie cameo would confirm earlier rumors suggesting he joined the band in the studio, where they've been working with producer (and former LCD Soundsystem frontman) James Murphy on the follow-up to 2010's hit 'The Suburbs' LP. The new album, reportedly titled 'Reflektor,' is scheduled for an Oct. 29 release.

If it indeed happened, the Bowie/Arcade Fire collaboration would cap off a comparatively busy year for the Thin White Duke, who ended a decade of silence on March 8 with the release of 'The Next Day,' his first album since 2003's 'Reality.' While persistent rumors regarding a tour have so far proved unfounded, a little bit of Bowie is better than none at all, and it just goes to show you: You still never know when or where he's going to turn up.
