Day 1 At The Sochi Winter Olympics
I have ‘Olympics Fever.’ Really can’t wait for the Men’s Hockey to start for Team USA against Slovakia Thursday morning at 6:30 am CT (NBCSN). Hope we get that channel in the 98 Country studio (guess we can watch online). Here are the winners and losers from Day #1 at the Sochi Olympics according to our friends at Bleacher Report.
WINNER: U.S. Snowboarder, from Park City, UT Sage Kotsenburg. Gold Medal winner in the Men’s Slopestyle Snowboarding.
LOSER: Canadian Snowboarder Max Parrot, who berated U.S. Snowboarder Shaun White on Twitter for withdrawing from the slopestyle competition, saying, ‘He’s Scared’ to compete with us — finished fifth in today’s event. Polly wanna take it back?
WINNER: The Netherlands. You might think they were the only ones competing in the Men’s 5000 Meters speed skating competition Saturday. The Dutchmen won all three medals. There were other countries involved. No matter.
WINNER: North American Women’s Hockey. USA 3, Finland 1. Canada 5, Switzerland 0. Any hopes of a dark-horse seems, well, dark. USA and Canada are headed for a gold medal showdown.
WINNER: Teenagers can be hard to predict. Not this one. Fifteen-year-old Russian Yulia Lipnitskaya amazed the world with her routine in the team competition, putting the Russians in the lead in the race to the first figure skating gold medal.
