I can't blame you for having second thoughts.  From your description of what happened, it seems he may not have much of a sense of humor, not to mention being extremely ungrateful. Maybe you can do better.  Perhaps, in the future, when you're chewing gum, you should stick to blowing bubbles.  Hope this helps.
