As I was watching Nashville's Mike Fisher beat the crap out of the Wild's Justin Falk late in Saturday's game at The X, I paused to reflect on how painful it has been lately to be a fan of yours. You're killing me. You know things are bad when I feel like the Vikings have had the most success as of late. (Yes, the 7-9 Vikings.)

The Wild (18-18-5) are the most disappointing to me. Yes, they need better goaltending, but Saturday's game was a terrible performance that went far beyond the net-minder. Just plain bad. Last night the Wild lost their 11th game in their last 13. They are in last place in the Central division, nearly 20 points behind first place Nashville. Rumor has it Mike Yeo was seen buying cardboard boxes at Lowes. Stinko!

The Timberwolves (5-31) have now lost a league leading 15th straight game (tied with the 76'ers for that honor, a team that some thought could go winless this season). Like their Wild brethren they are also in last place, 24 games behind Northwest division leading Portland. The current state of affairs is a bit more explainable than the Wild situation, but bad is bad.

What else can be said about the Twins (70-92) other than they've finished with 90+ losses four seasons in a row -- finishing in last place each year. Can't wait for the home opener on April 13th vs. the Royals. (No, really, I can't wait -- that's why it's so hard being a Minnesota sports fan.)

And the 7-9 Vikings? They just chocked up their fourth losing record in the past five years, but at least seem to making an attempt to turn the corner. They hired a new head coach last year, have a hopefully up & coming QB, and have made many other changes that had them looking better this year -- but...

Being a Minnesota pro sports fan requires an insane amount of optimism and 'glass-half-full' thinking. I'm running dangerously low of both.

Love, Frustrated from Fridley (but in St. Cloud now).
