If one group member is synonymous with The Jefferson Airplane it must be vocalist Grace Slick.

Yet Slick is noticeably absent from the debut album of the Jefferson Airplane, Signe Anderson was actually the lead singer on their debut album, 'Jefferson Airplane Takes Off' .

Anderson did a fine job with the band as the original lead vocalist, however; she would depart from the band in 1966, the special magic that her replacement brought to Jefferson Airplane was undeniably Grace Slick.
