All Minnesotan's are stereotyped as pleasant, friendly, nice people. It's how we got our 'Minnesota Nice' label. It's actually 'Minnesota Passive Aggressive' though!

Yes, in Minnesota there's plenty of road-rage, bar brawls, and folks going through the wood chipper...but the worst is a personality trait that us Minnesotan's have more in each of us than anywhere in the country I've seen - Passive aggressiveness, which is downright bitter.

Think about it. I bet that at least 10 people you know from Minnesota are pretty nice people overall, but if there's 1 thing that's annoying about them, it's how they act nice to you, say obtrusive things (in a nice way of course), and cut others down behind their backs.

What's the difference in many other states (especially the east coast)? They just come right out and tell you you're annoying, then get over it. You don't see that too often in Minnesota.

From this point forward I'm declaring the TRUE meaning of 'Minnesota Nice' to mean the following:

"When angry at someone, don't let them know. Just smile pleasantly to their face and proceed to talk about them behind their back. Holding a grudge is very likely too."

Just for the record, I'm not venting and didn't have a recent bout with a 'Minnesota Nice' fella, just deep thoughts.
