Downtown Minneapolis May Be Losing Chicago Avenue to ‘Vikings Way’ [POLL]

US Bank Stadium
US Bank Stadium

After spending a billion on our Vikings stadium, the street named “Chicago Avenue” is a reminder of a rival team more than ever. The Vikings want the street renamed to “Vikings Way”.

According to KSTP, the Minneapolis Planning Commission is voting to change part of the Chicago Avenue,¬†between South Third Street and South Sixth Street, to “Vikings Way”. This name change would leave most of Chicago Avenue’s name in tact, except those areas around the stadium.

Vikings officials argue that the Minnesota Twins were able to rename portions of the road near Target Field, to “Twins Way”, so the Vikings should be able to have their way as well.
