The original came out in 1981 and some movies aren't worth the remake but in this case be ready to be astonished. The film has already made twice what it cost to produce.

Sam Raimi created the 'The Evil Dead' franchise which ended up as a trilogy (The Evil Dead, The Evil Dead II, and The Army of Darkness) and now a remake of the first film. This year Sam  Raimi confirmed that his next directing work should be the fifth installment of the franchise and a direct sequel to the original trilogy.

Similar to the first film a group of friends head off to remote cabin where the discovery of a Book of the Dead (Necronomicon) leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods.

The evil presence possesses them until only one is left to fight for survival.

The film stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Jessica Lucas and is now showing at the Parkwood Cinemas, check your local listings for showtimes.

The film is rated 'R' and for good reason, runs 91 minutes and on the rating score card I would give this film a 4 out of 5 due solely to the effects, good production, this film lacks the humor as in the first one so be warned it does carry with it brutal terror, gory scares, and gleefully bloody violence.
