The place where the Beatles and Rolling Stones got their careers started looks like it's going up on the auction block next month.

The Cavern Club sits in a strip mall in a strip mall known as the Cavern Walks Shopping Centre in Liverpool, and Dave Jones, the lease holder says that while the shopping centre is up for sale, the actual club will remain untouched.

Dave tells NME that the person who buys the shopping centre will have to "work around" where the Cavern Club is. The Cavern Club was home to the Beatles and they played there over 300 times. The Who, Elton John and the Rolling Stones also performed there back in the day.

The club was torn down once before to make way for a railroad expansion that never happened, but was rebuilt using bricks from the original building.

The London Walks Shopping Centre will be going up for auction October 16 and is expected to fetch $1.6 million dollars.
