KINGSTON - Fire crews were called to a house fire in Meeker County early Friday morning. The Sheriff's Office says the call came in at about 1:15 a.m. for a home on 710th Avenue in Kingston Township.

The fire started, and was contained, to the northeast corner of the home. The outer wall, upstairs bedrooms, and attic were damaged, along with smoke damage throughout the house.

The 35-year-old homeowner Kellie Heggem, and a guest, were sleeping at the time. They both got out safely. A number of cats were also in the house, all but one are accounted for.

The cause of the fire is not known.

The Dassel and Kimball fire departments responded.
