The Minneapolis club First Avenue is undergoing repairs after a section of the ceiling collapsed during a show last night, sending three people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. ABC News Radio reports that the incident occurred during a performance by Theory of a Deadman, who are on the road promoting last year's Savages LP. You can see footage from the aftermath of the collapse above.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the portion of the ceiling that fell was 30 feet by 30 feet. The local fire department is currently investigating the cause of the problem and "evaluating the integrity of the building," and First Avenue's general manager, Nate Kranz, says there's still no clear indication as to what caused the collapse to happen.

"A large portion of the ceiling fell and took out water pipes with it. We have no idea why or how it happened. We won’t know anything about this until tomorrow. It was a terrible surprise," said Kranz. Adding that the club recently had inspectors visit to "[look] everything over," he said First Avenue would be closed the following day so they could determine "how it happened and what to do to fix it so it doesn’t happen again."

First Avenue has been a fixture on the Minneapolis live music scene for decades. The club opened in 1970, and was most notably featured in concert scenes filmed for Prince's Purple Rain movie. Although the Star Tribune notes that the collapse occurred immediately prior to an "uncharacteristically quiet" week on the venue's calendar, it still leaves the owners facing a period of uncertainty.

"If I’m told we’re going to be dark," concluded Kranz, "we’ll have to figure that out."
