Flying For the Holidays? It's Going to Get Even More Expensive

Flying is expensive. If it wasn't for the generosity of my sister-in-law - who paid for our kids' plane tickets - we wouldn't have been able to travel to North Carolina this past August to meet my new niece.

Flying is expensive no matter what time of year you travel. But if you're flying during the holidays, it's going to get even more expensive.

Both Frontier and Spirit airlines will be charging extra for checked bags during the holiday season. Meanwhile, JetBlue will charge for your first checked bags for the first time.

This is, of course, a case of supply--and-demand. Higher demand for tickets equals higher prices & fees for said tickets. Just don't be surprised when the price of that ticket you looked at last month has skyrocketed by the time you actually buy it.
