ST. CLOUD -- A former St. Cloud State University President died Friday, December 23 after a brief illness.

Dr. Charles Graham was born May, 29 1929 he devoted much of his life to higher education. He served as the 15th St. Cloud State President from 1971 to 1981.

During Graham's ten years at SCSU he formed a partnership with Akita University in Japan, advised in the construction of the Atwood Mall, Administrative Services Building, Halenbeck Hall's south addition and the Wick Science Building.

Graham also led the transition of changing the title of the institution from St. Cloud State College to St. Cloud State University as well as creating the first collective bargaining agreements with faculty and staff and founding the University Archives.

A memorial service will be held January, 11 at the Centennial United Methodist Church in St. Paul at 12:00 p.m..
