Freddie Mercury Biopic In Trouble

Recently, it looked like a Freddie Mercury biopic would finally see the light of day thanks to Borat, but now the project looks like it’s in trouble.

Looks like the Freddie Mercury biopic has lost its leading man.

Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen will not be playing Freddy Mercury after all.

According to Deadline.com, Sacha and the remaining members of Queen were at odds about the direction of the project. Apparently Sacha wanted an R-rated tell all, but Brian May and Roger Taylor wanted a softer, nicer movie that focuses on the band and not just Freddie.

This was not the first time Sacha and the band members had a spat over creative differences. The writers and directors Sacha suggested were rejected as well, so he bowed out.

No word on who, if anyone will replace him.
