With the quality of pop music quickly declining (in my personal opinion) we need good musicians and innovative artists now more than ever. Sorry but Nikki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and Florida Georgia Line just aren’t cutting it for me.

What happened to the days of Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, The Beatles, and Van Halen? Are there any good artists that have survived in the age of the illegal downloading of music? The short answer is – yes. They are few and far between but they do exist. One such artist is the one and only – Gary Clark Jr.

This guy should go down in history as a blues/rock legend. His guitar playing is tasteful and the tone of his voice is soothing. He’s almost like a modern day version of Jimi Hendrix. He even made an appearance on the HBO series “Sonic Highways” by the Foo Fighters and played a guitar solo on one of their tunes.

If Dave Grohl likes this guy then you know he’s awesome. Luckily for we Minnesotans, Gary will be gracing us with his presence soon. He’ll be playing Surly Festival Field on September 8th. The show starts at 7 pm and you can purchase a ticket online now for $45.
