Gophers Open Season Tonight

The 2013 football campaign begins for the University of Minnesota tonight against the University of Nevada - Las Vegas at 7pm in TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The Gophers came out of Vegas with a 30-27 triple overtime win over the Rebels last season.

The Gophers have high expectations for the new season, but others aren't as optimistic. Big Ten sports writers picked Minnesota to finish fifth in the Legends Division, ahead of only Iowa. Most preseason Big Ten power rankings list the Gophers at 8 or 9 out of the 12 teams.

Following the UNLV game, the Gophers face New Mexico state next Saturday, Western Illinois on 9/14, and San Jose State on 9/21; before opening the Big Ten season on September 28th at home against Iowa.
