The Golden Gopher men’s basketball team defeated Penn State 68-65 Wednesday night. The Gophers improve to 13-3 with the win, while the Nittany Lions fall to 9-7 overall.

Malik Smith converted four late free throws to help the Gophers to the win. Minnesota was 22-34 from the line overall. DeAndre Mathieu led the Gophers with 16 points, while Eliot Eliason pulled down 12 rebounds.

Minnesota plays against Michigan State in East Lansing at 2:15 on Saturday afternoon.
