The University of Minnesota football team raised its record to 3-0 after Saturday’s 29-12 win over Western Illinois in Minneapolis. Gopher head coach Jerry Kill, who has previously been diagnosed with epilepsy, suffered a seizure on the sidelines during halftime. It was a slow start for Minnesota, who led 7-6 at the half, but wore down the visiting Leathernecks with 213 rushing yards, and four rushing touchdowns in front of more than 42,000 maroon & gold faithful. Coach Kill suffered his fourth game-day seizure in his three years with the Gophers on the sidelines during halftime, and was taken to an area hospital.

In a release from the university: “Coach Kill suffered a seizure at the end of the first half of today’s game against Western Illinois. He was attended to by medical personnel on the field and was then driven to a local hospital as a precaution to ensure proper medication levels. He is resting comfortably. Coach Kill’s staff, which is the most tenured in the nation, and his team are well acquainted with his condition and are prepared if a situation like this arises. Coach Kill’s epilepsy has been documented by both local and national media and our fans are aware that situations like this can happen.”

Next up for the Gophers; San Jose State at TCF Bank Field, next Saturday (9/21) at 11am. Minnesota opens its Big Ten season on September 28th at home against Iowa.
