Guitar Modifications: Yay or Nay?

I'm a half-assed guitarist of over 20 years. That entire time, I've never made weird modifications [mods] to any of my guitars, other than upgrading electronics (pickups, potentiometers, etc.)

Some other guitarists are much more Dr Frankenstein-like. Eddie Van Halen is famous among musicians as a chronic tinkerer. He basically created his own sound; from the "Frankenstein" guitar to putzing with his amps (and blowing a few up). To this day, he still tinkers in his shop.

Other guitarists have modded guitars out of necessity. Full-size guitars are a bit of a pain to take into orbit.

While some axmen have come up with brilliant mods, other guitarists haven't been so...successful.

Guitar World came up with the 26 worst guitar mods of all-time. Some of these are just silly, some are downright sacrilegious. Some aren't even "mods"...more like "mistakes."

Any favorites? The zip-tied broken neck is mine.
