‘The Hangover 3′ is happening. Though ‘The Hangover, Part II’ was basically a remake of the original film and mostly disappointed critics, the sequel made a ton of money (it was the fourth highest grossing film of 2011) and WB and director Todd Phillips have been quietly planning the third and final installment. And, as it turns out, ‘The Hangover 3′ may be happening sooner than you thought.

The Las Vegas Sun is reporting that ‘The Hangover 3′ will begin filming on and around the Las Vegas strip later this month. They report that the entire cast – Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and even Mike Tyson – will all be returning.

Though ‘The Hangover 3′ is filming in Las Vegas, the film is expected to take place primarily in Tijuana, Mexico. Galifianakis has previously said that the plot for the third film would have his character Alan committed to a mental hospital with the rest of the cast working to break him out. With the sequel going for even darker comedy, expect the film to up the ante even further for the third film (someone is eventually going to die, right?).

Though the second ‘Hangover’ movie made a lot of money, it also cost a lot of money; not so much in the budget but in the salaries paid out to director Phillips and the film’s cast. ‘Hangover 3′ looks to bring in even more lucrative deals for the cast – all of whom could headline their own comedy at this point.

‘The Hangover, Part III’ is set to hit theaters on May 24, 2013.
