For some reason to me of all the musical artists it's hard to really imagine Eric Clapton retired from the business, pure speculation.

Eric was born in Surrey, England back in 1945, received his first guitar as a birthday gift once he reached the age of 13. Thinking the rest is history.

As he reached teen hood he began his career working for whatever tips he could get in and around his childhood home of Surrey.

I'm honestly not sure exactly how many live performances Eric has under his belt but consider for a moment his accomplishments.

  • There's been 37 albums Eric has been involved with in association with other bands.
  • 21 solo albums
  • 10 soundtracks
  • 11 live albums
  • 63 albums he has shared his talent with other artists as a contributor

According to Classic Rock magazine, Eric told the fans of Japan, "I may be able to come back again. I've been coming here for 40 years, since before some of you were born. It's the best place I've ever played. Thank you for having me."

Some years ago he mentioned in an interview with Rolling Stone he planned to end the touring thing at the young age of 70. That milestone is just a year away, we'll wait to see if he holds true to that. What a career, thank you Eric Clapton for sharing your talent with all of us and Happy Birthday!
